TE AWAMUTU, NEW ZEALAND - FEBRUARY 24: Inmates at the Maori Focus Unit - Te Ao Marama (meaning "Into the light" or "out of the darkness") on February 24, 2011 in Te Awamutu, New Zealand. Te Ao Marama practices Kapa Haka and other traditional Maori cultural activities at Waikeria prison. These inmates have been specially interviewed and selected to join this unit which has more relaxed security than the rest of the prison and takes a Maori approach with cutural and language education, traditional Maori music and songs and teaching inmates about their faka papa (family heritage) reconnecting them with their ancestry and iwi (tribal) ties.
