AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND -- MARCH 10: Mongrel Mob, Auckland chapter president Tom Epiha at a BBQ at the home of friends where his daughter, Katrina Epiha (white dress) is staying. With him is one of his gang "bros" Damon Johnstone. ..The Mongrel Mob is a Maori gang that originated in the 1960s at the height of Maori urbanization. The name "mongrel mob" originated from the comments of a District Court Judge in the Hawkes Bay in the late 1960s, when he referred to a group of men before him as "nothing but a pack of mongrels."
