OCEAN GROVE, NJ- AUGUST 19: A row of tents in the Ocean Grove Methodist tent colony are illuminated from within August 19, 2000 in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. People have been sleeping in tents at Ocean Grove for over 130 years, when the Methodist Church settled the area as a summer, spiritual retreat in 1869. Today the town is popular to a variety of tourists and summer visitors including those who just want a peaceful day at the beach. The Jersey Shore, a 127 mile stretch of coastline known for its variety of beaches, boardwalks, small towns, natural beauty and summer crowds, has been a popular summer destination for over a century.
